Did your plan follow the revised plan (from the mid point review)? what worked well? What changes did you make? Why?
My plan did not follow through from the mid point review because Miss Stower did not think that my idea, in practice, worked well. I decided to change how I presented my project from a classic design to a graphically designed book. I changed this as Miss Stower thought that it would work better, be more interesting and play to my strengths.
Did you need to do anything else to change your project? What did you intend to do? By when?
When I developed my idea from the first to second draft I needed to find/create multiple backgrounds and elements to my work. I intended to do this by the end of October, start of November so that I had enough time to develop my ideas if I needed to again.
Supervisors comments...
Miss Stower said that my first draft was too plain and was not flowing as one and told me to make it more graphically based and then said that she liked it and that I only needed to change one of two things, which I did and then she liked it.
What changes have you made when discussing things with your supervisor?
I changed the look and theme of my book and how I should present my work to attain the highest marks I could.
How are you going to present your project?
I am going to present my project in a digital animated book which is shown on a computer and it can interact by clicking and dragging the pages.
How will you structure your presentation (for next lesson - 2 minutes)?
I will structure my presentation for the next lesson by giving a quick and brief overview of how my idea developed and discuss in more detail how my idea developed after the first draft.
What are the strengths and weaknesses of your project?
The strengths of my project are that all the work is my own and it looks and feels the way that I wanted it to.
The weakness is that the way it is presented needs extra files to support it, therefore, if you do not have all the files it will not work.
What have you learnt from the project? Skills / ideas / artists / experiences?
I have learnt that I can draw in a very sketchy and rough format and also how I can easily develop my ideas into a finished piece. I have also learnt how to use flash in even more detail and skill.
What have you learnt from the comments of your supervisors / peers?
I have learnt that I should take on board and use the comments from my supervisor/peers constructively to benefit my work.
What would you do differently if you were to undertake the project again?
I would think through the way I would present it in more detail and actually understand what it would look like in practice.
Summary
Project title: Long Lost Book
Project aim: To improve my drawing and to understand layout and graphic design.
Main content / what did you do? The main content of my project is Greek Myths and Monsters and I wrote the stories and drew the characters in the book which I also designed and produced.
Project findings or conclusion? I found that I can draw to a satisfactory quality and that what I thought would be difficult I can find tutorials and step by step instructions to help me succeed in the task I want to complete. I think that my project looks and feels the way I want it to. Though it has not come out the way I thought it would I am still happy with the final look and feel of the book.
